Innovation Sessions

Sponsors, companies and universities offer Innovation sessions which provide insight into their industry and inspiration and support for the TeenTech Awards.

They are all very different but will provide help and support for student projects together with an inspiring opportunity to experience an aspect of the company or university facility.

The BBC, GSK, Accenture, Rolls Royce, Coventry University, Atkins, National Rail Academy- Gateshead, TFL, London Zoo and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital -Stanmore are just some of the organisations who have opened their doors to TeenTech students.

9:45am – 2:30pm
Year 10 students

Aims of the day: Rolls-Royce are keen to work with a diverse range of young people to highlight career pathways and help promote the ‘in demand’ skills required to succeed in the workplace. Students will be invited from schools/colleges in the region and all materials and activities for the day will be provided by Rolls-Royce. Many see Rolls-Royce as an ‘engineering’ company but the day will highlight the importance of digital across all areas of an organisation and highlight how innovation is used in modern industry.

Students will participate in lively workshops alongside Rolls-Royce apprentices and graduates and will understand more about the personal qualities valued by employers. Students will see how creativity, bold thinking, collaboration, teamwork, communication and tenacity are highly valued. It’s a great opportunity for students and teachers to extend their network and understanding of the fast changing modern workplace.

Students who attend the day will also have the opportunity to consider participating in the TeenTech Award scheme where they can access further mentoring support from Rolls Royce.

This lively, inspiring day with hands on workshops will introduce students to different tech and digital careers across Rolls-Royce and their partners.

Students will have the opportunity to:

  • experiment with some of the very latest technology from haptics to immersive technology.
  • learn about the different career pathways into Rolls-Royce and other technology  and engineering organisations- at both apprenticeship and graduate entry points
  • understand the skills & core qualities needed
  • work alongside Rolls-Royce staff on a ‘challenge’
  • tour Rolls -Royce to see how tech is used and meet people working in different areas.

Students will have their eyes opened to the opportunities available to them and understand what they need to do to succeed in these areas.
